Views of the Lake Mansion
Library
To the right of the entry is the library. Above
the door is a transom, a wooden flap that could be opened to
circulate air throughout the house. The library was a very important
room, for the family members were all avid readers. The Lakes
valued education. When Florence, Jane Lake's first child, married
State Senator William Thompson, she was given her choice of
a wedding present. She chose to attend school.
The library is now used as a gallery to display
art works of VSA arts of Nevada students.
