On the left of the entry is the double parlor.
This room was considered the women's room. It was always kept
ready for Sunday family gatherings and entertainment of guests.
Jane Lake did not always follow the fashions. Contrary to the
times, she chose to paint the walls of her home and install
wall-to-wall carpeting. Hanging on the walls are oil portraits
of Myron and Jane Lake, painted by Cyrinus B. McClellan, a noted
Virginia City painter.
